I am so glad I stumbled upon this site! I am already registered with two but they aren't chihuahua specific.

I have a question - my new chi pup (Miellie) bites really sore. I am wondering if she's being spiteful? She's just over 7 weeks old and I have had her for almost two weeks. When ever we play, she'll jump up and bite me really hard, even in the face. I give her commands to stop but she does it over and over again. Is it because she's still a pup?

Also some advise on housebreaking/littertraining will be great. I did read up alot before I bought her, but some of the info is a bit difficult to put in practise.

Thank you.

Hi Suzanne, welcome to the forum!! I hope you plan on posting photos of your baby... yes??

The biting is normal puppy play... try substituting a toy for your face when he jumps up to bite. Cat toys are great for small pups and little mouths, just take out the catnip of you get a catnip toy - it won't harm the pup but it will save you from having a mess when he rips the toy open. Also, if you have a cat, it won't tick off kitty. :)

I posted some potty training info a while back on the forum that was given to me when I had my chi, Cooper, in obedience class. You can find it here: http://www.chihuahua-people.com/viewtopic.php?t=13116

Good luck with your new one and welcome!
Hi and welcome! I don't have any advice to offer (I'm sure you'll get loads of help from others here) but I wanted to say hello.

I hope you'll post some pics of your little girl. :)
Hi and Welcome :hello2:

At around 7 weeks she's probably still getting her puppy teeth too, so it's partly teething. See if you can find something for her to safely chew on and give that to her when she starts biting you.

If giving her something she can chew on doesn't work, walk away from her or put her in her crate for a few minutes so she'll learn she will loose your attention if she bites you.
Thanks to Cooper's mom for the wonderful potty training tips. I hope to get my baby soon, and I am sure I will need them. Sofee will be at least 12 weeks, and perhaps older, however. My breeder is very reluctant to let her go yet (she is just now 8 wks), as she is pretty small.

I am very anxious, although I know it is best for her, and that is what I want.
That is very normal. Chico still does that with some people. When he was little though his teeth were like little razors. Ouch! Be patient and he will outgrow it I promise.
Yep, it's normal. Hershey does that constantly and he is about 10 weeks old. I offer toys, though it hardly does any good. They will grow out of it, for the most part anyway.
Thank you so much for your replies. I will definatley try them. I don't know how to get photo on here, so any help would be appreciated!

Thanx for the welcome but you can stop at one! :D

Here's a photo. I can seem to add it to my signature - don't know how. Apparently the pic's too big!

Thanx - but I can't seem to use it. How did you make the pic smaller?
If you right click on the photo that Sara did for you and save it to your computer, you can go to your profile and, at the very bottom, you can "upload avatar". Find the picture saved on your computer and hit "submit" at the bottom of the profile page and it will show up under your name on the left hand side.

If you want someone to make you a siggy, try the siggies forum .. there are lots of great people there that, if you say pretty please, will make you a fantastic looking siggy. :D

Oh.. .and welcome to the forum!! Your pup is soo cute!!
