:D :D WHOOOPIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE :D :D

As some of you know I have been searching for a smoothcoat chi female for some time now, and a breeder contacted me to say she had a pup available but wanted them to have a full check up at the vets before she would commit to anyone.
Well, they have been this afternoon and everything is fine with them healthwise,.......AND........ I have first pick, she really wants me to have one
The smaller pup, which is the one I want still has a slightly soft head, but the vet said that was to be expected in a smaller pup, and Mr Big also had this when I collected him, so I know to be extra careful for the first few weeks with the head! She is happy for me to have her NOW. Oh my Gosh, I cannot believe it!!

Help me before I spontaniously combust

She is eight weeks old tomorrow. Mums milk has dried up, and they have been on tins of butchers tripe for just over two weeks now. There were only two in the litter so very healthy pups.

Give me advice everyone! When should I pick her up, and more importantly, how can I wipe this rediculous smile from my face

ooooh, and names, etc, and should I buy her a seperate crate to begin with to keep her extra safe at night.

Alll suggestions very very gratefully received

I thought to wait another week, but the breeder has said that Mum is getting irritated now and as such, they have been seperated from Mum since Monday. The other, larger pup is being picked up this week, so my little one would be on her own?? I also picked up Mr Big on his 9th week which was in between, which seemed right for him. I was thinking this Friday when she will be 8 weeks and four days. I know puppy social skills are picked up at this important stage, but was bearing in mind that my Mr Big is only 16 months now, so maybe that would also help with the integration :)

well, my dear I have to agree 100% with luv.. the smile will never go away.. you will find yourself smiling more than you ever have in your life....

I would go get her is they have been doing so well.. mom will only be teaching them how not to chew on everything and how to be socialable to toher dogs... but if she onlyhad 2. Is the other one still with mom? if not then I would go get yours.. if so I would leave them together for a couple weeks

good luck and God bless

Thanks so much for the advice everyone!. I spoke to my breeder this evening, and she thinks Friday is a super date to collect her, so this Friday is my big day :D

I might just have to pop out and buy some little goodies for her to while away the hours until she joins our family.

I am plumping for Pixie as her name, but also like Tilly! Any preferences anyone :)

I agree with Vic to wait another 2-4 weeks as they go through a huge fear stage at this time and moving them etc can be detrimental in the future but if there is no other way round it - good luck , congrats and I cant wait too see pics :D

That is wonderful news. :D If the other puppy is being picked up, and Mom and pup have been basically seperated, I see no need to wait another 2 weeks. I realize 10-12 weeks is considered the ideal time, but sometimes circumstances dictate otherwise.

I picked up Jasmine at 8 weeks at the breeder's request. She had 3 litters and was anxious for some of them to go.

Post pics soon -
