I've never met a dog that is so completely and utterly snobby when it comes to toys. Lacey literally NEVER plays with one. I've tried ropes, squeakers, kongs, stuffed animals, mini tennis balls that squeak; every toy in Petco and Petsmart has been held up or tossed by this dog and she turns her nose up at them or looks at me as if to say, "You're kidding me, right?" :foxes15:
She's the same way when it comes to treats and chewies. The only things she nibbles on are cow tracheas -gag-

All she ever wants to do is sleep. She will very rarely get in a playful mood where she bounces around like a kangaroo. She stops though, within seconds when she realizes I'm not a chihuahua and I am incapable of wagging a tail back at her. She used to chase her ferret boyfriend around for a few minutes a day, but she doesn't even care about him anymore, either. She sticks her snobby nose in the air whenever he is near and pretends he doesn't exist.

Any suggestions as to bring out her playful side or any toys I haven't tried? I even tried cat toys, thinking it was just the size of the toy that was annoying to her. But, NOPE. Nose in the air. :(

My Ote was the same way about toys and treats until we got the "big dog," Mojo. Now she loves playing around with him and tearing away with her treats when I give them to her so that he can't get a chance to steal them from her! One toy that she always had interest in though is the Busy Buddy Bristle Bone. It's an awesome chew toy that has rawhides to entice the pup into playing.

We have it. She licked it once, gave me the "You must be joking, Mum" face and said adios to it. The ferrets play with it now. :(

I want another chihuahua for her to play with. It's just not a good idea, as most apartments around here don't allow any pets and we need to move out of our current in the next year or so. It'll be hard enough finding a place that will allow one dog and two ferrets. -sigh-

I don't even know if another dog would be a solution to her play-woes, though, anyway. When she's around my mum's dogs, she just pees and runs away. They're both small dogs, too and neither one is "in her face". She was obviously around dogs before and she used to play when she lived with her breeder. I'm so frustrated. I feel like she just mopes around here all the time.

:tard: That site is making me nauseous. It's so....busy and wordy and dizzying!
Any chance you have a direct link to that toy? Hahaha

I have a few that don't play. I have never seen Delilah pick up a toy in the two years I've had her. She will play with Twiggy every once and a while, but never a toy. Tico never plays either, but with his background I wouldn't think he would. Twiggy doesn't play with toys, but does chew on a chew toy. Reggie rarely plays with a toy, only will play tug-a-war if his favorite dog is on the other side of the toy. (Babushka. Used to be Billy, but he decided he loved Babushka more. lol)

Guillermo is the same way, he will not play with any toys, but will chase Chica around and around the house. He would rather be on someones lap and watch Chica play with the toys.

Here is Guillermo's favorite thing to do:

Do you play too? I've had Romeo since he was 8 weeks. When I gave him toys he wasn't really interested. But when I chase him round the sofa with a toy - he loves it! We take it in turns to drop the toy. I pretend I can't see him. I'm literally crawling on the ground when I do this. And when I pretend I can't see him, he jumps on my feet from behind.

An old pair of socks with screwed up kitchen roll is fun. And cardboard kitchen roll tubes are like gold dust in my flat! But I have to be careful they don't eat the little pieces they chew it into! Lol.

Now we also have Pax who is a year old and wasn't a big player - but me and Romeo have taught him the games! He looks at us like we're mad - but will join in! But he prefers dancing! ... and cuddling! ;-)

Romeo's new favourite game is stealing whatever Pax is playing with!!! And then running behind the big footstall with it! And he loves me and Pax chasing him to get it off him!

Or I just lay on the floor being silly and playing with their toys myself - then they both want to play!

Johanna,

Lacey and Mimi are so much alike with their little issues. Mimi
never plays with a toy and just like Lacey will only chew on
tracheas. Every day I spend time "playing" with Jax and time
trying to encourage her to play, and she still has no interest.

Also the addition of Jax did not help her to become interested
in toys or playing either. In fact anytime Jax attempts to play
with her she will just cower down and yelp at the top of her
lungs.

It makes me sad because I think she's missing out on fun that
she could be having.
